Q. Do you really get to remix these famous artists?
A. Yes, I usually receive seperated tracks of the artist's vocal performances and sometimes the instrumental. Just about every remix I do is a full production mix, which means I create totally new backing tracks to the artist's vocal. When doing a remix of an established artist, the tracks usually come through Promo Only in Calgary and are always secured from the artist's label. Sometimes the tracks are high security, especially when the single has yet to be released.
REMIXING
The remix is an exciting option for any band or artist wanting a version of their song in any other form than was originally created. Versions of heavy rock songs transformed into electronic or industrial dance mixes, ballads transformed into house mixes. Applying different sounds and styles together in the studio can create a totally wild sonic interpretation of your song. The remix is a great way to gain a wider listening audience and is a valuable addition on a single release.
The artist retains copyright and control over licensing and royalties. Dave creates ambient, melodic, heavy, weird, industrial and danceable versions of your existing song/s, all the while retaining commercial viability.
To create a remix of one of your tracks, send copies of each individual track in .wav file seperated dry (no effects) onto a CD@ 44.1/96khz 16/24 bit. This can be done from your masters. You can also use Logic Audio files with the audio enclosed.
This also can be done via the internet, sending MP3's at 128kps or better of the backing tracks, but CD's are recommended.
